Anointing
We care for the sick because we see them as children of God and part of our human family. When one part of the Body of Christ suffers, we all suffer (1 Cor 12:26). The suffering of one impacts everyone. Thus, we are called to solidarity, which is a responsibility on the part of everyone about everyone. The Anointing of the Sick is intended to strengthen those who are elderly or seriously ill, to connect them to our community of believers, and to make God’s healing power known. Here is how the Catechism describes Anointing:
By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests, the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed, she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.

The Anointing of the Sick is always available from one of our priests. If you know someone who is gravely ill, experiencing powerlessness, limitation, or finitude, contact the Parish Office. A priest can come and visit your loved one in the hospital or at home.
Unción de los Enfermos
Cuidamos de los enfermos porque en ellos vemos a los hijos de Dios y parte de la familia humana. Si sufre un miembro, todos los demás sufren con él (1 Cor. 12, 26). El sufrimiento de uno impacta a todos. Al ser llamados a la solidaridad tomamos la responsabilidad de todos y por todos. La unción de los enfermos fortalece a los ancianos y a los que están enfermos de gravedad, los ayuda a conectarse a la comunidad de creyentes y para que el poder de Dios sea manifestado. He aquí cómo el catecismo describe la unción:
“Con la sagrada unción de los enfermos y con la oración de los presbíteros, toda la Iglesia entera encomienda a los enfermos al Señor sufriente y glorificado para que los alivie y los salve. Incluso los anima a unirse libremente a la pasión y muerte de Cristo; y contribuir, así, al bien del Pueblo de Dios” (CIC #1499).
Nuestros sacerdotes siempre están dispuestos para administrar la unción a los enfermos. Si usted conoce a alguien que está enfermo de gravedad, que está perdiendo fuerza, se está limitando o que está agonizando llame a la oficina parroquial. Uno de los sacerdotes podrá visitarle al hospital o a casa.
